Residents are instrumental in their food and dining preferences. From dining locations and times to food selection, these choices allow our residents to maintain a sense of dignity and control. Choice is very important to increase the desire to eat and improve the quality of life. That’s why Canal Winchester offers seasonal and bistro menus, as well as numerous side dishes, ethnic favorites, homemade soups and desserts. Chef-prepared meals and a guest menu ensure our residents experience dining as it’s meant to be, nutritionally and socially.
Assisted Living at Canal Winchester’s food and dining philosophy focuses on enhancing quality of life for every resident
Therapeutic diets, including low-salt, low-fat, and sugar-restricted diets, are important to manage chronic disease. Registered and licensed dietitians work with our dining services manager to ensure specialized meals are properly planned and served. Optimal nutrition is achieved by serving regular or minimally restricted diets that allow for resident choice, determined with the person and in accordance with his/her informed choices, goals and preferences, rather than exclusively by diagnosis. As with any medical issue, residents are monitored for desired outcomes as well as for potential adverse effects.
For special occasions, residents can host guests in the dining room. Guests always are welcome to dine with residents, in the main dining room, as well. Room service is available upon request.
